Rise Above Cultivating Character

At North Highlands Bible Church, we desire to be Christ followers rooted in godly character. Because Jesus rose from the dead, we too can rise above the brokenness of this world to be men and women of character. We will focus on a new character quality each month to help us cultivate character.


  • Compassion | December 2018
    A deep concern for other people that motivates one to action.

    1 Pet. 3:8 (NET) Finally, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, affectionate, compassionate, and humble.

  • Faithfulness | November 2018
    Being worthy of the trust and the confidence of others.

    1 Cor. 4:2 (NET) Now what is sought in stewards is that one be found faithful.

  • Situational Awareness | October 2018
    Being alert and mindful of your surroundings allowing you to respond quickly.

    1 Peter 5:8 (NET) Be sober and alert. Your enemy the devil, like a roaring lion, is on the prowl looking for someone to devour.

    The strength to remain steadfast in order to accomplish your mission.

    Hebrews 10:36 (NET) For you need endurance in order to do God’s will and so receive what is promised.

    The ability to place your confidence in another.

    Proverbs 3:5-6 (NASB) Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. 6In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.

  • Forgiving | April 2018
    The ability and willingness to take the pain and bear the cost of an offense.

    Ephesians 4:32 (NASB) Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

  • Flexibility | March 2018
    Being willing and able to adjust to a better course of action.

    Proverbs 16:9 (NET) A person plans his course, but the LORD directs his steps.

    Not the absence of fear but the overcoming of fear through mental, moral, and spiritual strength.

    A caring attitude that moves you to act on behalf of others.

    The ability to see others and recognize their value.
