 The Battle Plan for Prayer

Key Idea: Discouragement and the power of prayer

Summary: As always, enjoyed some good fellowship and discussion on Sunday. The topic was discouragement. I remember listening to some stats on those who attend sports games compared to those who attend church on Sunday mornings. I was shocked to find out that more people attend church!!!!

If that many people are going to church, where’s the power?!!! Why don’t we see more of a difference? Could part of the reason be discouragement?

Discouragement paralyzes us!!! And maybe, that’s exactly the place where satan wants us to be…in a place where we feel we are powerless and can do nothing.

What a sweet reminder that that is NOT true!!! Those who know Christ have the power of God in them. The same power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at the right hand of the Father and who has placed all enemies under His feet. ALL enemies!

Prayer is one of God’s means of inviting God’s power, wisdom and presence into every situation we face.

Do NOT believe the lie that you are powerless and your situation is hopeless!!! If God can bring the dead to life, He can breathe life into any situation that seems impossible!

Here are some things that to do, when you get discouraged. I have found many of them to be so helpful. Feel free to add to the list.

- Press into God.
- Take our thoughts captive to truth. Don’t let them carry you away into the slew of despond.
- Pray. When God speaks...obey.
- Remember who God is and what He has done.
- Get the BIG picture.
- Don’t go it alone. Find faithful believers and let them share your load.
- Get into God’s word. Listen, be quiet and let Him speak to you.
- Turn on Christian radio…listen to some good music or sing.
- Find someone to encourage
- Get some rest and eat well:-)

I have also found memorizing Scripture to be so helpful!! When my mind starts to go down the wrong path and I feel a need to reign my thoughts in, reciting Scripture helps me to bring my thoughts back to what is true.

I remember that the...

The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy, but that Jesus has come that we might have life and have it more abundantly. John 10:10

That the LORD is faithful and He will strengthen and protect us from the evil one.
2 Thessalonians 3:3

Therefore, I pray that God will help me to submit to Him, resist the devil and he will flee from me. James 4:7

Using God’s word to pray is a wonderful means of helping us when we pray!

Below, I am attaching our schedule for the next few weeks. Feel free to join us when you can.

Blessings,

Bobbie
