Valentine Surprises, Hearts ‘n Benedict Cumberbatch

Sitting on my small vanity in the guest room are thirteen little Valentine’s bags. Each one stuffed with sour candy, suckers and chocolate hearts. I picked up three red and white aprons with hearts from my grown daughters and daughter-in-law, and gift cards for coffee for my son and sons-in-law.

Tucked in each bag is just a bit of love.

And for the one who made it all possible that handsome hubby of mine, I have a special card, a big heart box of chocolates and a gift card.

Since I am posting this a day early, SHHH…don’t let the cat out of the bag

I like surprises!!

In fact, I have another one planned for today. In a few hours I will take my granddaughter to Half-Price Bookstore to look for the next book in a series that she is reading. I plan to stop by Customer Service ahead of time and have them “hold the books” for us. When we stop by the desk to pick them up, instead of finding a book on hold…they will pull out a special birthday package just for her.

I can’t wait to see her reaction. Ha!!!!

I am hoping it will be one of those special memories that she and I can laugh about for years to come.

When we pull up memories, don’t we also pull up a bit of love?! Yes, there are memories that are packaged with feelings of fear and pain. But we can choose what memories to pull up. Let’s pull up the memories that fill our hearts with love.

Pulling up those memories allows us to experience the love over and over again!!!

Here are a few practical thoughts.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, let’s pull up those special memories.

Memories of loving and being loved by others. Moms, dads, family and friends. And what about that special guy or gal that stole your heart?!!! Go back a few years and treasure the special moments. Every couple has their story.

Years ago, I read a comment made by the English actor Benedict Cumberbatch about his wife. He said, he felt like the luckiest guy in the world. Out of all the guys she could’ve loved, she chose him!!

His comment brought me back to the days of being a young girl.

With my whole future ahead of me, I longed to know what lie ahead. Who will I be? What would I look like? Will I be an archaeologist discovering great treasures in Africa? Will I be a nurse serving in third world countries ministering to the sick and needy? Will I be a reporter like Lois Lane or the brave woman behind Robin Hood or Zorro fighting for justice?!

Who would be my Zorro, or would I even have one?

Then, like Benedict Cumberbatch I wondered, “out of all the women in the world, why would anyone pick me?!”

How important it is to not take for granted those who love us. Whether we are children, friends or spouses, it is a gift!! A sweet gift from God.

So, pull up the memories that fill your heart with love. Make a list of the special people in your life and thank God for them. Draw some hearts and put them all over the house, hide chocolates, make strawberry cupcakes and tell someone how much you love them.

Then let’s go crazy in loving others.

The Scriptures tell us that God has poured His love into our hearts!!!

This is great news. We have the love of God in our hearts. So, let’s fill our hearts and homes with the love of God and may it overflow to the world.

Happy Valentine’s Day.

Hugs,
Bobbie
